Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he’s been notified by special counsel Jack Smith that he is a target in the criminal investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump, on his Truth Social network, said he got a target letter indicating he could face charges.
The special counsel has been examining the former president’s actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
In his post, Trump called Smith “deranged.” The former president claimed that he faces “arrest and indictment” and that he was given just four days to reply to the letter, which he said he received Sunday night.
